That thing was thrown in the trash! He couldn't point in the right direction. I ended up going to my local auto parts store to have it replaced with a different type of compass. This compass also had course problems. It could have been the materials in my car that dumped it. The real problem with Revain's compass was that there was no obvious way to adjust the compass accuracy. I set up the one I bought locally and it works great.

I bought this compass because it has suction cups so I can attach it to my windshield and it's easy to read at night. Suction cups and legibility are excellent. The only problem is that it doesn't quite pinpoint the direction I'm going in. I recently traveled to New York State from Florida and drove west most of the time. Of course I could go west for a while (sometimes it reads as SW), but I mainly went north. I don't trust this device and will look for something else.

I understand that a compass is a pretty simple thing, but this one HAD to be a gift. When they say it's "repackaged," they mean it's in a plastic bag with no padding or other packaging. However, I could use it as a gift, but it doesn't come with any instructions (e.g. time when I'm not in the car?) and so on. So this one gets thrown in the bin and I buy something that doesn't look like it came from a thrift store.
