Are these refurbished?

I really want to like this iron. scratch it i really like it Seemingly solid construction. The problem is that I placed an order for a brand new unit that has never been used. The one I ordered looked like it had been wiped off with a wet rag (dry residue on the shiny parts) and there were still plenty of water droplets in the tank. I immediately sent for a replacement that had the exact same issues AND a scratch on the side. Now I'm sure the irons work fine and some might think it's a smallโ€ฆ

Roventa no longer exists for me.

I had three expensive Rowenta irons (I sew a few) and each leaked so badly I had to throw them away. Enough! I read the reviews about it and decided to give it a try. (Quick digression. It's amazing how many iron reviews say they suck. I mean, if we could send a man to the moon you'd think.) At $28, this iron is cool anyway. The stainless steel outsole is as smooth as the Rowenta and worked perfectly on a couple of shirts and a tablecloth in my first test. May I say that it smoothed out theโ€ฆ

High performance and ironing performance. Really disappointing management.

The performance of this iron is rated 6 out of 5. Heats up, stays hot, moves through fabric very easily. Steam works really well and the steam boost feature does just that. I didn't experience the spitting that other reviewers comment. The cord is usually left out. Where it falls off seems insignificant but constantly frustrating. The markings on the heating scale are barely perceptible. For the numerals, the designers chose a color so close to the color of the dial that they are unreadableโ€ฆ

Gets very hot (good) but occasionally spits out (bad)

My 15 year old Rowenta still works but the sole is quite worn. After neglecting to clean it, I found that the coating was actually peeling off the sole. And I was a very bad iron owner not draining the reservoir and using hard tap water (eek) and all kinds of limescale build up. That's not how you use an iron. So, time for a new one. I thought about buying another Rowenta but honestly didn't want to spend more than $45 and good Rowenta irons cost almost double that. I checked the reviews. Iโ€ฆ
