Price + Quality + Ease of Use = Winner

I had a Mustek 1200CU scanner that I was happy with, but I got a new computer with Windows Vista and Mustek just doesn't release drivers for this scanner. I don't scan as often as I used to but I do need to scan from time to time and have decided all I need is the Canon LiDE 25. I'm glad I made this choice. I have a newer model that includes drivers for Vista, but drivers for Vista are readily available on the Canon website so it's not really an issue other than convenience. The LiDE 25…

strange alignment for scanner and accessories

My only problem with this scanner is the alignment. I had to make a copy of my dog's vaccination form and the scanner made a copy which I swear is even better than the original. However, he also cut off the top 1/2 inch of the shape where the vet's address was. So I had to fiddle around a bit and finally decided to sacrifice the bottom of the form (the fine print anyway, but that might become a problem later) to display the relevant information. The noise from the scanner was nothing compared…

Good price! Works great! I'm becoming a canon addict!

I've been buying Canon products lately - camera, printer, photo paper and now this printer. Canon has never let me down. I am amazed at the quality of the scans this scanner produces! I only bought it to share wedding photos from books and magazines with my mum who lives a few hundred miles away, but I think I'll keep my old 35mm shots with the CanoScan LiDE 25. The price was great, set up was quick. a breeze, powered by the USB cable and the software is incredibly easy to use. I still have to…

Cars - I don't understand them

I ordered this scanner because the buttons on mine stopped working. I thought I lived a good 10-12 years, so that's okay. I ordered the same model as a replacement because I wanted to make sure the new scanner would be compatible with my old system. Hm. The buttons didn't work either. BOO. I finally got the manual for the original scanner. My daughter always arranged everything for me, so I never paid attention to it. I had to call the manufacturer to find out what the problem with the button…

I'm glad I bought it from Scanners

I bought this scanner because it can scan text. I work for a newspaper and use it often. It recognizes characters much better than the scanner I used to use at work. It takes a little longer to scan a page, but scans documents that an old scanner would turn into a mess. Although I've read reviews complaining about the noise from this scanner, I've found that it actually makes less noise than the one I've been using at work. I would give it five stars but it does have a few things that bother…

Great quality for such a cheap price.

I bought this scanner to replace an old HP 3790 flatbed scanner that broke after years of faithful service. I was surprised that the quality of the photos scanned on the LiDE 25 was slightly better than on the older and more expensive HP scanner. The colors had a slight red cast until I went to the Advanced menu -> Settings -> Color Settings and unchecked Color Matching. After that, the colors were absolutely perfect, even better than the older HP 3790. On my machine with WinXP 2.66 GHz…

Good basic scanner.

I bought this scanner to scan hand drawn maps and documents for a research project. I also use it occasionally to scan photos and color images. The scanner works well, scans documents and black and white images very well. I'm not overly impressed with the colors in the scanned photos, there are probably some settings I can tweak to improve the results. I think it would be fine to scan images, but if you are an amateur photographer you may need a higher quality scanner. The only major issue I've

CanoScan is perfect

I needed a compact and slim scanner for my laptop (15-1/2 inches wide). I don't want to spend a lot for an additional, but more convenient scanner) and everyone said that the only downside of the Canoscan is slower scanning. Buy a scanner whose only downside is its slowness. Easy to set up with my Vista operating system, CanoScan fits on the shelf of my small laptop when not in use. It can scan to regular image formats, but can also scan to PDF (also with the ability to create multi-page PDFs),

CanoScan is perfect

I needed a compact and slim scanner for my laptop (15-1/2 inches wide). This scanner was cheap (because I already had a scanner connected to my PC). Decent, light weight, easy to use

I bought this unit to digitize 1000 photos taken over the last 20+ years. I also use the scanner to read text from my school books. This is a small and light scanner. You probably wouldn't want your little kids operating this fairly lightweight device. Because of its size, you can easily keep it near your work place and take it with you for quick scans. If your computer is running Windows Vista, you need updates for Arcsoft Photostudio and OmniPage SE, which are provided on CD. Canon has a…

Works Best Scanner

This scanner offers incredible value for money. Setup is easy and performance is excellent. If you only scan a few documents a day, look no further. On the other hand, despite being a USB 2.0 device, it's a bit slow. An 8.5 x 11 grayscale scan at 300 dpi took 30 seconds, then another 15 seconds to return to the starting point for the next scan. The rest of this review describes my installation experience. the box is very thin. The device has clear written warnings about installing software…
