Best Subaru CVT Fluid

I waited a few years and tens of thousands of miles before finally writing this review. I currently have 3 Subaru. 2014 Subaru Legacy 2.5i CVT, 2014 Subaru Impreza 2.0 CVT and 2015 WRX CVT. The WRX has an in-line engine, fully bolted connections and an upgraded 350 hp turbocharged engine. I have used this fluid exclusively in all three of these vehicles. Now the Wrx has 75,000 miles on this fluid, the 2014 Subaru Impreza has 75,000 and the Legacy has over 30,000. This liquid works! I had no…

Nissan folks, change CVT fluid every 30-45k miles

I am the first owner of a 2013 Nissan Murano SL, yes, all the trimmings. With 70,000 miles on the Autobahn, the car drives like new. At a recent service, the dealership charged $250 for a CVT fluid flush/change. What? My gear oil should last a lifetime. Of course I refused, and it turned out that I was wrong. After some research I decided to do it myself. It's actually easier than changing the oil if you drain and refill the oil. After loosening the drain nut, 4 liters of genuine Nissan CVT…

New life in QX for transmission fluids

I bought a box of these for my 2014 Infiniti QX60 based on all the positive reviews for Nissan's infamous CVT. In 120,000 miles I have never serviced the transmission. The dealer checked the codes at the last oil change and said they were showing jitter/slip codes, which usually indicate an impending failure. They asked for $7,500 to replace the transmission. It certainly wasn't as smooth as it was then, but I didn't want to spend that money on a gearbox even if it had a truly catastrophic…

I really wasn't expecting much.

Warning! This rating applies to other types of Castrol transmission fluids. This review is only for Castrol 06811-6PK Transmax ATF Black CVT! The CVT will be severely damaged if you use regular AT fluids! First, I have a 2017 Nissan Altima with 40,000 miles. No real problems like whining or slipping. So I really wasn't expecting any big changes here. I was more willing to do the maintenance as a preventive measure. mainly because of all the nightmare stories we hear about the Nissan CVT. I have

The Cure for the Weepy Altima CVT!

I've had a 2010 Altima that's been making a decent highway rumble from the CVT for a few years, probably 110k+. I brought it in under warranty for 119k to see if the CVT failed because I was having more symptoms. They let me know it was a "TCM update" and that the fluid and transmission were fine. Disappointing they didn't replace for free but hey fair enough. I kept having slow nagging/problems. Fast forward a year and almost 140,000 and I had TERRIBLE loud wins, hiss, overheating, limp…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • No paint required
