Replace the fan and that's great (but *BEWARE* of the fan!)

I wanted to build an "almost" silent PC that didn't want to stay fanless, but I wanted the fans run so slow (or turn off) during normal operation, which was quiet, and only during intensive operation did the fans increase performance. I bought this Hypter T2 CPU cooler as it is the largest Cooler Master that fits in a standard case and then replaced the fan with a Noctua NF-A9 and am very happy with the solution. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because I had to replace the fan, but I would…

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Vulgarity

The bracket for this needs to be installed on the *rear* motherboard *before* installing motherboard into case. In other words, this is not a radiator replacement for existing machines (unless someone wants to significantly disassemble that machine). The instructions aren't very clear - they seem to be written to cover all possible options, so there's always a lot of parts left depending on your machine's configuration. The instructions are written in Ikea-esque diagrams, but with less clarity…

Intel i7 8700 (no k) stock cooler vs Hyper T2

I recently built a new computer primarily for gaming and decided to forego overclocking to save some money by using decided on the i7 8700 (no k). I wasn't planning on buying an aftermarket cooler, but the 8700 ran too hot to comfortably use the stock heatsink. graphics settings. These were my results, yours may vary by case and settings. The i7 8700 peaked at 85C while playing Battlefield 5 for 1.5 hours with the default cooler and paste. It's technically safe, but UAV. Temperatures throughout

Terrible design for Intel processors.

God I've bought a lot of great Cooler Master products; some of my favorite cases, fans and coolers. But this CPU cooler is one of the biggest pieces of junk I've ever come across. It's possible that the AMD based mounting mechanism is fine, but the Intel based mechanism has 2 small plastic feet on each corner that should fit the holes. into the motherboard and then push a hard plastic scribe to push them apart, theoretically protecting the cooler. There is nowhere to put your hands, even if…

Hyper T2. Very impressive performance.

I'm not a gamer, but I take and edit a lot of photos. Who would have thought that my CPU temperature would go from 120f (48c) to 171f (77.2c) when I run the shake reduction function? the same editing function on the same photo. CPU temp never rose above 89f (31.6c) - which is pretty close to my previous idle temps. My new idle temperature has dropped 30 degrees Fahrenheit. My previous cooler was in an AMD box along with my processor (AMD Phenom II X4 840). It takes up a lot of space - it was…

Pros
  • Great overall performance

212 LED is not exactly the same as 212 EVO.

I bought the Hyper 212 LED because it was on sale and thought it was the same as the 212 EVO with the addition of red LEDs. However, although they are close, they are not exactly the same. The LED version has a slightly different mounting bracket, so the fan/heatsink can only be installed in one of two directions (in your case, the fan is facing forward or backward). 212 EVO can be installed in any direction (in your case the fan is forward, backward, up, down). This wasn't really a problem for

The processing of the product could be better, but works well.

When I first received it I examined it carefully before installing it. The surface of the cooling plate was ground with a very coarse abrasive. It wasn't smooth at all, my fingernail made a flashing noise and caught on the marks they used to sand down the heat pipes so they were flush with the aluminum heatsink they were embedded in (which weren't flush anyway). I took a sheet of 2000 grit sandpaper, taped it under tension to my glass table and rubbed it against the cold surface of the slab…

WORST INSTALLATION EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE

In almost 20 years of PC work, I've never come this close to throwing the entire system out the window in a fit of rage. I bought it because I used to have a Hyper 212 and liked it, but my new system uses a microATX case and it was the biggest cooler I could fit in that case. Mounting pins are complete nonsense. One of them broke off, the other still cannot be screwed in completely. The stock Intel pins are easy to install and remove with no hassle, and they look almost identical to them. So…
