Somewhat satisfied with internal hard drives

This docking station is exactly what I was looking for. It is very convenient to be able to connect two additional hard drives. I use this to dock drives with large video files. Overall I'm reasonably happy with this setup. A major disadvantage is that the drives stop or go to sleep too quickly. Once this happens, it takes longer than expected before I can read or write to the discs. I contacted Startech. Almost a month later, they replied that there is no setting for this setting.

Good for the price. good for data storage

It's cheap and didn't have much trouble with it. As some have said, it seems to be losing connection to the computer. One night I moved a lot of files to it, went through the folders to see if they were there and tried to open them but I said it couldn't find the files or anything. Rebooted the device and luckily the files were there and everything was fine. I think if you leave it on for too long the computer will lose connection to it. worth your money.

I have used Startech equipment and cables for many years. I have always considered them reliable. Sometimes a bit more expensive, but worth it. I experienced a power surge on the motherboard of one of my computers. The SATA-II connectors and two of my hard drives are burned out. I had to pull the remaining drives out of the case and there were short E-Sata ports. Very happy with the performance of this device. I haven't used the backup feature yet because I haven't recovered the lost data yetโ€ฆ

Efficient and reliable

I use this dock for Windows 10 to archive videos, music and data files to offline removable drives. While the first model I ordered had a faulty switch and had to be replaced, for the past three months the replacement has worked as expected. Choose this model for the two separate power/status buttons, which are not available on most docking stations. Depending on the archiving needs (and USB 3 capacity), it may make sense not to activate both drive bays at the same time. I chose StarTechโ€ฆ

Great hard dock! January 15, 2020 Update

Update: Downgraded from 5 stars to 3 stars. Bought in October 2016, has been working since installation. Today for the first time I used the power buttons to turn off two drives and removed them to check for dust and possible other debris. It looked clean like new, put the hard drives back in, turned it on and the computer no longer sees the docking station. Checked the disks with another tool, all ok. I made sure the USB port is working and everything is fine. Connected to another computer but
