Best and only option over 10 w/mk for 3mm pads

Use these as gap fillers on the back of my RTX 3080 FE which is on a full water block. The backplate is pure aluminum, so I use passive cooling on the back of the PCB (memory, VRM, memory controller, etc.) - the problem is that some of these spots need 2+mm TIM to make proper contact. Come. Below is a comparison of the stock Nvidia TIM Ultra soft pads, the regular TIM pads that came with the device, and Gelids after 30 minutes of full load using various 3D Mark RTX and non-RTX benchmarks. My…

EVGA 3080 Miner Review

So, I have several cards to mine, two of them are EVGA 3080 FTW3 and Asus TUF 3080. This is meant to be plugged into the back of my EVGA card. I saw instant results. EVGA cut corners by not placing pads on the back of the card. Asus already has a few of these, but I suspect they haven't delivered the best quality, just the most economical ones. So my memory link rates were in the mid to late 90's on my EVGA (never hit 100 degrees but close lol) but now that I've added them in the lower 80's I…

They're effective, but the packaging isn't the best

The pads are soft, which is needed when placing heatsinks on chips, and effective! The problem, however, is that it's only packaged in a thick cardboard sleeve that's only slightly larger than the notebook itself. This shrinks all of the edges, making the already small pad appear visually smaller. The Gelid guys have to make small bends in the cardboard, or even better, put a plastic border of the same thickness around the pad to keep the thickness constant. If you need to use the entire spacer

  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Speed of operation

To be honest I'm a bit disappointed.

Not that this stuff didn't work well (it actually does!), but it's very "fragile" and doesn't seem to stand up to repositioning or reuse. In terms of feel and handling, it roughly corresponds to modeling clay. It deforms but doesn't seem to bounce back like a regular pad. It tears and tears very easily and pieces keep popping off the sides no matter how carefully I've handled it and tried to figure out the best way to place and secure it for my application. This is more than likely for…

It's expensive but it's great!

I bought this product because I wanted to use my Nvidia 3080 for cryptocurrency mining when not gaming. My 3080 froze and the fans were spinning at 100% because the video memory was getting too hot. There is no temperature sensor in the video memory, but after replacing the original thermal pads with these, my 3080 no longer slows down and doesn't let the fan run at maximum when mining.

Good GPU thermal pads

Purchased for use on the back of the circuit board of a Gigabyte 3080 gaming system to stop throttling memory. And it worked like clockwork! The card doesn't have long thermal throttles at all and I see a nice improvement in core temperatures as well. The pads are easy to use and easy to crop/resize. Overall well made pads that work exactly as intended. 10/10 would buy again.

Pros
  • Quick replacement
Cons
  • No paint required

Used for 3090, like

You only need 3 of these thermal pads for this project. 4 if you think you can screw it up, but I honestly don't think you will if you're careful. So you are on the expensive side. 3 is good! When cutting I took the product out of the packaging but instead of removing the foil on both sides I put it on a piece of cardboard so as not to cut myself on a table or carpet. I've found that it's best to use the angle of a razor blade to cut through and then slide. Thermal pads are malleable but don't…

Mining with 3080s: this is what you need

Gelid Extreme is exactly what you need for cooling VRAM for 3080 mining are mainly needed for responsible mining (to keep your VRAM below 94F) . A pack of 2mm is all you need for a 3080 (but check your specific model). Not to be confused with Gelid Ultimate - yes, Ultimate has a higher thermal rating of 15 compared to 12 here, but these pads aren't as compressible: This results in lower VRAM temps, but higher core temps - sometimes too high, depending on the model ( e.g. FE maps). back plate)…

Great temperature improvement

Used 2mm spacers to replace the stock thermal pads on Gigabyte 3080 Gaming OC VRAM modules and reused the old spacers and placed them between the PCB and metal backplate. If you want enough to get rid of the old pads completely and be able to add them between PCB and backplate, you need to order two pads as only one is included in the package. immediately jumps to 106-108C when mining with NiceHash. After installing the Gelid Extreme pads on the VRAM modules and placing the old pads behind the…
