It simply does not work!

I bought this cord to replace a broken hinge on my Hunter Douglas Silhouette lampshade. This cable is much thinner than the original cable so it won't "snap into gears" when you try to raise the umbrella! It simply does not work! Interestingly, this issue has been mentioned in several reviews, so I probably should never have bought this product. It's a waste of money, don't buy it. This should be rated zero stars

Damage after 3 months.

Serves its purpose and fits perfectly but looks worn out after about 3 months of use. I was afraid it would break prematurely. It may be necessary to purchase backups in advance as I don't see a long lifespan for this cycle. To update. Yes, the thing is already broken. Very disappointing. Glad I bought two to have one in stock. although that means I need another one too soon.

Not recommended for large/heavy curtains

I used this to replace a broken cord loop on my Levolor honeycomb blinds. This is a large window - over 90 inches wide - so the curtain is likely heavier than most. This cord doesn't seem thick enough to hook the wheel when I try to lift the canopy - it just slides through. No problem. I lower the lampshade - I just raise it, since it has to support such a weight. I think I'll have to order a replacement directly from Levolor.

Excellent replacement cable

This cable is a perfect replacement for a broken cable. I should mention that I tried the 3.2mm cable first and it was too thick: it was VERY difficult to pull. Even if you don't think 0.5mm would make a difference, it WORKS: This 2.7mm cable is perfect. It runs smoothly and effortlessly with no slippage. The moral of the story is that getting the correct size replacement cable is VERY important. I suspect the opposite is also true in my situation: using this when you need a 3.2mm cable causesโ€ฆ

NOT REALLY PASS-THROUGH LOOP

The item worked as a replacement for the loop rope on my blinds but in my opinion the product is inferior as it is not a true endless rope. The two open ends of the rope are glued or held together with a piece of clear plastic, such as that used at the tip of a shoelace. I'm worried that when I pull the rope to pull the blinds down and up, the connection will eventually come loose and I'll have to replace it again soon. Also, the plastic connector initially had trouble sliding through theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Frequency

The joint is very well made (although it's called "glue joint" here, I think it's just heated with a special tool and the melted ends are joined together). The hinge is about the same size as my original cord loop, allowing the new loop to fit through the mechanism and tensioner with ease. Looks (sorry for the pun) high quality. Yes, it's 2.7mm in diameter, so for people who leave feedback that this doesn't fit, it's a good idea to pre-measure the diameter (although this is the most common size
