Made to turn the flywheel while working on the clutch and pressure plate

Used on a 1961 Chevrolet 283 with manual transmission engine. I had to disassemble the transmission to find and fix the problem. Spinning the flywheel worked well so I could remove the assembly, inspect, clean, then reinstall and tighten. Much easier than trying to use a very large screwdriver and much faster. It's a bit difficult to get him to bite the first time.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Don't stand in the torsion plane

Great tool, sturdy construction, adjustable to all common flywheel sizes. However, it is spring loaded, so when applying pressure to the tool stand in front of the motor or to the side. I learned this the hard way when I had to muster an extra grunt and the tip slipped and hit me right in the plums. As I said, it's spring-loaded, so the weight I already had in it added to it, and it banged like a particularly angry metal viper. I lost about 2 days of work time to recover.

It's a damn good tool. I used it to hold the flexplate.

It's a hell of a tool. I used it to hold the flexplate in place while tightening the crankshaft bolt while the engine was in the car. Raised the car on one side of the jack. When I placed this tool on the flexible plate with the handle on the concrete, the tool stayed in place and rested on the garage floor while I applied 165 ft-lbs of torque to the crankshaft bolt. There were no scratches on the instrument. This eliminates the need to squeeze things into the holes in the flexplate. An…

Turner and flywheel holder

Very good product, did the job as expected! I used this tool to hold the flywheel on a 70hp Evinrude outboard motor. on my pontoon. Since the engine is free to spin, it would be nearly impossible to remove the locknut from the flywheel without a retainer. After the repair was complete, the holder also held the flywheel so the nut could be reinstalled and torqued to specification. This tool is very well made and made a very hard job easier. The tool was shipped very quickly, was well packaged…

something always good to have

I bought this tool because it was similar to the one I used when I was doing a lot of transmission work in the 1980's. I've always known him so it wasn't an easy purchase. I just recently built a high compression big block Chevy and wanted to check the OT because I use a billet aftermarket timer. The tool works as good as anything I've ever used, I didn't break it so that's good. So I would recommend this tool if you need to crank the engine in a car. just a word of caution, make sure the teeth

No slipping - easy to use

I have a 2002 Mazda B-3000 (Ford Ranger). Clutch slave cylinder leaking. Since I had to remove the gearbox to replace it, I decided to replace the clutch and flywheel. This required holding the flywheel to loosen and tighten both the flywheel bolts and the clutch pressure plate bolts. I also decided to change the timing chain cover (which was leaking); This included pulling out the harmonic balancer. Since the gearbox was removed, I had full access to the flywheel. I just hooked up a flywheel…
