I bought these to make cages for my rabbit hutch. It serves its purpose but is terribly frustrating due to its poor quality. The pliers are loosely mounted so they will swing back and forth when trying to work with them. If you work with a smaller grated wire, the process will be even slower. It does not close the clamps tightly even with a strong squeeze, which is why there is a gap in the cage walls. The poor quality of the tongs affected the quality of the cage I built. I love this tool! I just completed a 10 x 20 foot indoor chicken built by connecting railings using this tool and J clips draped over a carport frame. I built it using 2" x 4" welded wire that could easily be connected to more of the same wire, plus 1/2" metal mesh. I would recommend going with mostly welded wire as it's stiffer so you can increase the distance between the joints.After a while my hand got tired and sometimes I missed the second wire and lost the clip but there are so many J…

They'll get the job done, but they don't have the most comfortable grip. If the grips were thicker I would like them more. This was my first case building experience and after two cages I got a blister on my finger which isn't too bad but my hands hurt. Also, my hands are normal sized women's hands, it was easier for me to crush the J-clamps a bit before getting them to the wire so I could close the clamps with one hand and not slip off.
