They worked: Hand Tools

In general the pliers worked well. The quality seems good and they don't "feel" cheap. However, one of the arms was slightly offset or bent relative to the other, so I had to straighten it to get it parallel to the other. After that, the locking ring clicked normally and I was able to remove it. The blaster is your friend, let it do its thing and harness the heat. If you break them, it's because your locking ring hasn't come loose.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Working Speed

Needed to remove a very hard snap ring from a 4" hydraulic cylinder. The diameter of the grommets was when I first opened the package. Although the small grommets would be needed for the smaller rings I wasn't sure if they would be strong enough for the larger locking ring I was working with what I could. don't come out with other methods. But they worked perfectly and are extremely robust.

Does its job well!

In the past I've skimped on tools I don't use often. No longer. I recently rebuilt both master cylinders on my 1988 Honda Hawk GT. This tool made the job easier! I used to use Harbor Freight Tools snap ring pliers. Fragile nozzles did their job, but not as reliably and accurately. Penetrating inside, this tool is sturdy and removes the internal snap ring that holds the piston very easily and conveniently. Overall a great product and a reliable tool that will last for many years.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Required for Motorcycle Master Cylinder Rebuild

YSR50 has been very popular lately. The OEM brake master had to be overhauled. The locking ring is hidden just deep enough behind the piston that my interchangeable tip pliers can't reach it. They were delivered very quickly which meant I was able to get the job done sooner. I tried to see if my local bike shop had them but no. I don't mind paying for tools if they work and this one worked. I probably won't use it often, but I have the tools and don't have to rely on a store.

Ideal for hand tools

I've read claims that you can put a snap ring back into a motorcycle master cylinder without a pair of picks. I definitely couldn't. I pulled the old one out with regular snap ring pliers, but I couldn't get the new one in. After about half an hour of trying, I gave up and ordered these. The new circlip fitted right away. NOTE: The photo is not correct. The pliers actually arrived: https://www.amazon.com/OTC-4870-Master-Cylinder-Snap-Ring/dp/B00R7OS1E4/ or this…

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Decent tool but high price

Worked well enough to do a caliper overhaul job. It seems built well enough to get the job done multiple times, but I wouldn't put it in the complex professional tools category. The build quality is the same as any other locking ring pliers set, although they are a specific length and angle to handle this specific job. I have a hard time assessing the value here: He did exactly what I needed. and it looks like it's going to go on as often, but it just doesn't feel like tools live up to my…

Pros

The perfect tool for the job.

When attempting to rebuild the front master cylinder on my 1979 Yamaha XS1100SF, I spent an hour trying to remove the snap ring holding the piston in the cylinder with no success. The snap ring is almost an inch lower in the cylinder. None of the pliers I had were long enough to reach it and the two screwdriver method didn't work. I just didn't have the right tool for the job. I saw these pliers offered on one of the motorcycle forums and ordered them. With them I was able to remove the locking
