Trusted tool: Shop Tools

This is no ordinary tool - this is a professional park tool. My only modification was to go to a hardware store and replace the hex wrench set screw with one that I can easily finger tighten.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Problems

Reliable and durable quality

From what I've been told the ratchet can actually be screwed in so I bought this heavy duty wrench for extra leverage. Very durable. Nice addition to my Park Tool Kit. Nicely coated handle for more comfort.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Weight

This thing is MASSIVE!

This is the first time I've seen a "professional pedal wrench". I almost fell to my knees and bowed to him. Leverage is so important! Take it! I've used a rechargeable impact wrench and it's not much, but this tool should work most of the time. Great tool weapon for stuck cartridges!

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Discontinued model

It took me a hell of a long time to get mine.

I had so much time to spin the cassette. I had the right tool to remove the cartridge lock ring, but I couldn't squeeze it with a wrench. I didn't have wrenches big enough to help, so I ordered this wrench for parking. This is a sturdy and well made tool and it took me 2 minutes to eject the cartridge after installing the tool.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Wonderful tool best for bike tools and maintenance

Park's FRW-1 Freewheel Wrench is a good tool to have in your toolbox. since the lever is needed to remove the freewheel and the wheel cassette requires a lot of torque, strength, a vise and a workbench. I would recommend this tool and the wheel straightening tool. It fits my large Fuji and Opus hybrid wheels like a glove. It is only compatible with the Park FR-1 freewheel removal tool for Shimano FW, not the Nashbar tool.

I was satisfied with it

This is a force application tool. With this tool I had enough leverage to disengage the most stuck ring of the cassette or freehub or bottom bracket when the puller enters the bushing. I removed some of them that previously seemed impossible to detach from the wheel, so I restored a few wheels that I thought were lost. I was happy about that. One trick that works for me is that when I needed more leverage, I lengthened the arm by adding a piece of pipe.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • old

Well made tool, not the best for the job

While this tool is certainly built to last, it's nowhere near as easy or quick to use as the old/cheap one I got from Nashbar or Spectacle I think 15 years ago. I put the old one I have in a travel tool box and wanted a new one for home use so I bought this one. This is not a ratchet (not advertised as such) and is much more awkward to use. The old tool I have just slips onto a 3/8" ratchet, and you can ratchet it much quicker than trying to turn that tool. Is the tool good? Yes. It looks likeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember
