Cheap alternative to carpentry

I used this on my bathroom door frame, not for any weird security reasons, but as a solution to the original full-size latch screwed into rotted wood (the house is very old). Using this, which screws much higher and deeper into the frame, was a much cheaper solution than having someone rebuild the door frame.

A big improvement over the standard 4 bolt strike plate.

This was a good fit and a big improvement. I found that my drill warped the panel a bit when I installed the 3" screws. While there were a few kinks, this is still a lot better than those that come with standard lock sets. Installation went smoothly, well worth the money and effort.

ideal for retrofitting old work

Would be perfect if it was solid brass but only plated steel is available. The product is a retrofit solution to an old loose hasp where the door frame is damaged and the hasp mounting screws are recycled and nothing can be done in those old holes to securely fasten it other than cutting out a large piece of jamb and re-cutting install wood as well as refinishing the hole and countersinking the panel from scratch. .
