Not Working Properly - Oil System Tools

This tool cannot tighten let alone remove my Purolator PL14610 filters without slipping because the base of the tool is not manufactured accurately enough to fit the filter securely and adequately Holding it in place so it doesn't slip or round the edges of the filter, forcing me to use another tool to tighten or remove it.

Well made but poorly installed

I bought 65mm and 64mm filters not knowing which one is best for the oil filters I use. As it turned out the filter marked 65mm was too small and the filter marked 64mm fit loose and worked until I tightened the filter to spec. The 64mm started slipping before it hit the torque spec. Bottom Line: While these filter keys are well made, you can't trust their size.

Disappointed Good Oil Filter Wrench

I ordered this with all the parts needed for an oil change in my 2008 Highlander. I drained the oil but when I tried to remove the oil filter this wrench didn't fit. It feels like he's going to do it, but he barely bites the body. Frustrated, I even tried typing it, but it just doesn't fit. I was looking for a way to contact the seller but couldn't. I do not recommend this item at all, it was a waste of money. Now I have to put in clean oil at $30 a gallon (my car uses a gallon and a half) with

Good quality is simply misunderstood.

Quality is good but Stillman stamped the wrong part number on this one. Should have been 65mm but measures just 63.75mm. It won't even fit a 64mm filter (K&N PS-1003) as the key caps tend to have a little play. I have a Steelman key for this filter (06136) and it fits/works perfectly and is labeled correctly. The 65mm version is .030" smaller than the 64mm key, so this is clearly a Steelman quality control issue. Of course, Revain can handle them, which is why we use them.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Vulgarity

65mm x 14 groove slightly undersized will not fit Honda OEM filters

I bought a 65mm x 14 Steelman box wrench (same specs as Honda OEM wrenches) to work with OEM Honda filters and Purolator BOSS PBL14610 to work on the 2010 CR-V, but it is slightly smaller so the wrench will not fit in both filters. My caliper shows this Steelman wrench to be 64.2mm on the edges and 64.9mm on the corners. Maybe the size didn't take into account the black color that covers the inside of the instrument? Revain treated me right and refunded my money. I ended up with an adjustableโ€ฆ
