Waterproof, HA in Marine Radio

Ha, the title says this piece of shit is waterproof and the radio says "SUBMERSIBLE". My girlfriend used it in a kayak, it got wet and bang and bang, the radio was fried! ! !TIPS , Anything can be submerged in water, even my computer, it doesn't mean it will work after getting wet.

  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Operating Speed

Doesn't work well in salt water

Bought this radio last year, worked great for about 6-8 months but constant use in salt water and not being able to wash it off after each use has definitely ruined the radio. Now it's started to fail, doesn't transmit and the speaker is static all the time. The battery charging ports are glazed and must be cleaned with sandpaper. I would say overall this radio is not waterproof, maybe fresh water proof. but in general salt water eats the radio!

Sturdy well built radio

This is an amazing radio at a great price. It can monitor 3 security channels and weather channel at the same time. You can also program channels and set them up for scanning. It comes with a 12 volt cigarette lighter style charger. You can also plug a 12 volt converter into a regular outlet if you want to charge at home. I plan on charging it in my truck on the way to the lake, but a full charge takes about 3.5 hours according to the owner's manual. .Seems very durable and I was able to turn…

Fragile but still functional after a few years.

Good. The loading process seems to take forever. I use it 5-10 hours a month (mostly I only monitor 16 while I'm on the water) and I only need to charge it 3 or 4 times a year. Functionally everything seems to work. I soaked it several times but there were no problems with water penetration. Poorly. Shortly after buying it, I accidentally dropped it from waist height onto the cab floor. The small part that secures the battery to the socket broke beyond repair and the battery could not stay…

Not bad, but avoid swimming with it. Decent Uniden support

I first wrote a bad review about this radio because mine suddenly stopped responding after a dozen rides over a period of about 15 months. However, I rock my boat every time I go out and paddle in the rough ocean surf the whole time, so I'm a lot harder on the radio than the average customer. Due to poor customer service reports, I wasn't optimistic when trying to contact them for warranty support. In fact, I didn't get through on the first try. However, when I tried it another day, I got a…
