Splinterlands: The game that keeps on giving

Splinterlands is an amazing game for all types of people. Not only is it fun to play, it's a way to earn money as well.

There are multiple ways to earn money. You can earn just by playing. You can also buy packs and sell your cards to other players. This is different to other online CCGs like Hearthstone and MTG: Arena where you have no way of earning money back.

However, due to the nature of the game, it's pay-to-win. This, of course just means that the more money you put into it, the more you can get out. On the other hand, you can still get relatively high on the leaderboard, and thus earn higher rewards, if you play your cards right (pun intended). Just by playing the game, you have the ability to earn more money to be able to get higher to earn more money, and the cycle continues.

In addition, you can "cash out" whenever you want. If you don't like the game anymore or you just need some money for something in your life, you can just sell your cards for crypto and sell that for money.

Besides having to buy cards, you can also rent them to be able to use them for some time. This can both be another way for cardholders to earn money, as well as for renters to get larger rewards.

While they have a web app in alpha, I'm still afraid to use it on the go, as I bet it uses a lot of data. However, I still use it when I'm at other people's houses so that I can still receive rewards :).

As it's not supported by a super large company, it doesn't have the polish that other games like Hearthstone and MTG: Arena have, but it still has nice card art and good audio.

I would recommend anyone get into this game as it also has a "free trial" that's actually just the game without rewards.

Pros
  • Ability to earn money
  • Great audio and visual
  • No hackers (runs on blockchain)
Cons
  • Pay to win more
  • Repetitive
