Works great for cleaning the heating ducts

Did a great job cleaning the heating ducts! We ran a long thread from one end of the heating system to the other (using a small remote control car), attached the thread to a hose, turned on the shop vacuum, and pulled the hose through the air ducts. Then we pulled the hose back (with rope) and did it again. and again. and again. The tubing was flexible enough to go through the floor register but strong enough to survive the process unscathed. We had so much leaking out of the air ducts - I was…

Much more than I had hoped!

I have decided to build my own central vacuum system for the home rather than buying a pre-built unit. After reading for a few months I decided that making my own central vacuum would be much cheaper and much better quality. I got to the point where I had to decide what type of hose to use before installing pipes on the ceiling and walls. I need a flexible hose that retracts into the supply pipe. "Hide the hose" style. I found out the price that I could use it as a hose for a vacuum cleaner and

It's smooth inside!

This hose is much stronger than the hose that came with my 4 gallon Craftsman Clean n Carry and is smooth on the inside which surprised me a lot. On my Master and many other hoses, they are ribbed on the inside, not smooth. Hoses with ribs on the inside should cause some airflow loss and also make it easier for dirt to get in. When I swap between this 20ft Cen-Tec hose and the standard 7ft Craftsman hose, I don't notice any loss of airflow. The two fittings were not attached, but simply screwed

Why didn't I buy this sooner?

Firstly, it fits in both my small 5 gallon 4.5 HP Brute Shop-Vac and my larger 5.75L Contractor Shop-Vac. different machines. I was hoping it wouldn't reduce the suction, especially with my smaller vacuum that I use for car detailing, and I'm happy to report that I honestly can't tell the difference - still great suction, but now oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Piggy Bank Price

Fits my Shop Vac (a Ridgid vacuum that looks like a shop vacuum) that uses 2.5" hoses. Fits anything that uses hose sizes from 2.125" to 2.5". In the box you get a gray plastic hose and two black plastic sleeves that screw onto the hose. They don't snap and don't even hold particularly tight through friction. One end that connects to whatever tool you use is fully rotatable so you can easily adjust any orientation you need for your tool. The hose itself is surprisingly durable. Despite the…
