Dual monitor setup

I had the ability to set up dual monitor operation (someone left and I was able to assign their monitor) which would be invaluable given that I do CAD on a daily basis . The only issue was that I only had one VGA port on my laptop/dock and the rest of the ports were Displayport, USB, etc. Best Buy didn't have a Displayport to VGA adapter, so I turned on Revain and voila. ! And for $8 - way less than the $30 HDMI to VGA adapter Best Buy had! Received it on time, hooked it up - and right now I'm…

Blocks Ultra Low Resolution

After adding this converter cable, my monitor resolution gets stuck at ultra low resolution. It was really big and blurry and I couldn't work as I couldn't read anything I did as it was so big. I called tech support and they confirmed it was the cable attachment as I had no issues before adding it, but due to a new laptop and changes to the system I needed a way to connect. He informed me that I could use an HDMI cable and see if that fixes the problem and the problem was fixed immediately. I…

Plug and play connectors and adapters

I use 3 monitors at work and wanted to have a similar setup when working at home. I have many monitors, all with VGA connectors. I couldn't get my previous working setup (1 VGA connection to laptop and 1 Lenovo port replicator with video) to work with my current work laptop because new laptops no longer come with VGA ports and Lenovo replicator drivers even though they have Windows 10 The laptop from my previous employer doesn't even recognize Win 10 on the HP Elitebook 755 G5 I currently have.

Work great every time. Outstanding picture quality.

Moreread Displayport (DP) to VGA adapters always work great. They're a bit more expensive than some other inexpensive DP VGA adapters, but their functionality and build quality make them worth the extra money. Using them couldn't be easier. Connect your monitor to the adapter's VGA port with a VGA cable, and then connect the DisplayPort connector to your computer. Your computer recognizes it immediately and usually sets the monitor to its native resolution. In some cases you may have to set it…

Solution for $8. but it only worked for 7 months

I thought it would be a fantastic solution to connect my new Dell Precision Displayport to either my old monitor (VGA only) or any other monitor. I have several inputs including VGA available from several small televisions. And in the beginning it was. How could I complain for $8? Well I bought it in February and in July the picture on my TV screen started flickering with lines and dots. I've found that if I wiggle the connection, it works again. But foolishly I assumed that a decade ago there…

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • So far so good

One has to love computers. Especially when nobody can agree on which connection system to use between the main unit and the monitor. In this case it was Dell. There were two DisplayPort connectors, one HDMI, and that was it. So if we're using two monitors - the systems never get set up properly, I'll have to find out. I used a VGA cable with the included VGA to HDMI adapter for one and a USB to VGA cable for the other. It worked, well, most of the time. The monitors just had VGA connectors. The
