Much better than expected!

I bought two of these for PCs with D-Link DWA-552 Xtreme N wireless adapter cards Both PCs are on the floor under desks. The computers are networked to a D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N wireless router. The first computer is located in another room, 29 feet from the router. There is a wall (wood frame/drywall) between the PC and the router. The D-Link ANT24-0230 antenna increased the initial signal level from 3 bars (good) to a solid 5 bars (excellent). The antenna is on the computer desk. I had to…

Decent computers and accessories

Works as expected after reading the reviews. More expensive than it is worth, but what can you do. The cord is really short - it seems long enough to lift the adapter out of the computer case under the desk and onto the top of the desk. It turned out that this wasn't enough for my needs, so I had to put the computer case on a table and mount the antenna on the wall (handy brackets are included for different mounting situations - a quick picture hanging or a more permanent screw mount). I ended…

Good antenna movement

Our PC, using a D-Link DWA-552 wireless draft 'N' card, has three antennas that are very close together and exit the bottom of the back of the PC where others do PC cables hanging down on or near them. With a PC on the floor under a table, the antennas are in a very bad place. "Signal strength" is registered by our router not that far (but with a few walls, table wood and shelves) between 50 and 60 percent. between them). Although the cable is only a few feet long, using this device to move the

Gradual improvement

When evaluating the performance of an indoor antenna like the Xtreme N 2.4GHz antenna, it's important to remember that the range and throughput of a wireless connection depends on many factors depend, including the number of obstacles, actual location reception, and the WiFi card itself. My house has many walls and doors separating the D-Link dir-655 router from my laptop. The distance between them is about 80 feet, hardly a small distance. I went up a notch (from very low to low) and doubled…

Slightly better than the best wireless hotspots

I recently switched my router, which required replacing one of my Windows 7 64-bit computers from wired to wireless. The desktop is now in the basement on the opposite side of the house from the router, which is on the first floor. Although the vertical distance between them is small, there are some obstacles (such as air ducts, etc.). I installed a D-Link DWA-556 Xtreme N PCI Express Desktop Adapter and showed three bars of connection status and RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) 68…
