High quality sheath. Ideal for digging up weeds and catching ground squirrels.

I bought the same hori hori under a different brand five years ago and was delighted. This one comes with a much better sheath (thick leather, both stitched and riveted) and a cheaper price point (double saw). It lasted better than the other two similar versions I bought. Note that it has three pins holding the handle. That means it's a "full tail", meaning: the metal from the blade runs through the hilt to the hilt of the knife, making it stronger and allowing me to use it as a pry bar forโ€ฆ

Truly the best garden tool

I have had several different versions of this tool. Two were good, but I'm not exactly sure where they went. I suspect they were buried somewhere in the backyard by an overzealous project, or maybe someone who "borrowed" them and then left them outside. I had another one whose maker I won't name, I'll just say they make versions with orange handles for their line of scissors. This was worse because it didn't have a full tang and the blade material was fragile. It has a full smell. It's made ofโ€ฆ

Poor workmanship of this handy tool

I love hori hori knives, the first one made me wonder where it has been all my life and I wanted another one for my studio garden. I found these Black Iron Hori Hori tools at a good price but it was a complete disappointment in craftsmanship. Made in China shouldn't matter as long as it's well designed. The blade itself seems indestructible and for the purpose and weight you need a good grip on the handle. As with most horis, the tang on this one goes right through, but on this one it includesโ€ฆ
