Bright, single mode, single AA, mini flashlight

Many LED flashlights have 3 or even 5 modes of operation, requiring a simple on/off in 99% of cases. This flashlight turns on and off normally without switching between unwanted modes. It's brighter than I expected after reading some of the other reviews. The battery life is not yet known. I wish it didn't have a pocket clip which I don't use. Two photos are attached. The first shows a beam illuminating a door in a darkened room with maximum scatter. The door was well lit from about 4 feet…

Single mode is hard to find!

When this type of light first came out it was single mode. ON/OFF only. Now for some reason they think we need all three, five or seven modes. I mainly use two settings, on/off. When it is "Low", you can use it to save battery. Why can't these manufacturers get it? Nobody needs more than one on/off switch. Every time you use it, it becomes a hassle to switch. I tend to buy single mode devices but it's an insult to charge more for them when you can find them. I had to create some non-standard…

Good flashlight for the money

I was looking for a good, fairly powerful flashlight and started looking into technical flashlights. I found most to have the annoying trait of multiple modes. I'm not sure, but I definitely do NOT want to cycle through the 5 modes to get what I want. Obviously someone in China thinks we need modes like "Strobe" and/or "SOS" in the US. I'm not really sure who would actually use them these days! I just wanted a single mode flashlight - turn on, turn on, turn off. Looking for single mode…

  • Updates

After searching for quality single-mode flashlights, I settled on a couple that Amazon called "1-mode" but were actually three-mode. I don't know why most consumers need a strobe function, I find it very annoying and a headache to just toggle through to make the flashlight work the way I normally use it, ie to illuminate things. If there were 3 separate buttons, one for each mode, I would buy them. But it's a button. So, here it is at last. Cree 1-Mode UltraFire Flashlight. I would also like to

How long does it take? See below.

First off, this is a very bright little single mode flashlight that runs on just 1 AA battery. So don't expect it to last 30 hours. I bought 6 of these (all worked right out of the box) and tested the battery life with 5 different batteries (done 2 tests for each battery). Here are my results: 1) Sunbeam Super Heavy Duty Non-Alkaline (Dollar Store): 3 hours 2) Walgreen Alkaline Water: 1:523) Duracell: 4 hours 4) Energizer max: 3:225) Energizer Lithium Ultimate: 6: 43 small rehearsals but I…

Great option for a budget pistol light

These lights are hard to beat for the price. They are very compact and weigh almost nothing. For an AA-powered flashlight, its brightness is surprisingly good. As a weapon light, this option is ideal. It's lightweight and doesn't create a massive/bulky profile. The only downside compared to larger flashlights is the diameter of the lens. The beam is narrower, but this is a trade-off for size. I paired mine with a standard 1" flashlight mount found here at Revain and a Picatinny rail mount for…

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Single-mode operation makes them much easier and faster to use than traditional multi-mode flashlights. I use them everywhere I think I need a flashlight in case of power outage, burglary or zombie apocalypse. Or just places where I might drop something and need light to find it. I like the solid construction and the bright light. The beam zoom works very well and is mechanically simple. I believe they might be suitable as weapon lights if a proper attachment system was available. The major…

It seems QUALITY, but is it?

Batteries not included with these lights. But I tested all three of these flashlights and have to say I almost bought the cheaper ones but noticed people saying these flashlights are a real deal and I can't say I know of any other products but I'm crazy after those mini flashlights. They give really good light and they are long lasting and now I carry one with me all the time and they all look very high quality and all three worked with no problems. They appear to have a tough exterior and the…

Good product. Even better customer service!

I received my UltraFire mini flashlights last week. They seem solid and well made. After about seven years of bad luck with the Doo-rah Sell mini flashlights, I got the "C" Wholesale Club. I had flashlights, no bat. Yes, they were always replaced/refunded when they broke, but one of the reasons I keep flashlights handy is for emergencies when being able to see my surroundings is important. The incredible failure rate of flashlights sold at Du-rah when simply stored was staggering and…
