Fantastic daylight lamps

I bought it almost four years ago because I really wanted to brighten up the darkness in my basement. Back then, they cost $40-10 for a lightbulb. I felt like it was an insane amount for bulbs but they have been in use for almost four years now and I am very, very happy with them. They did a great job keeping my low, unfinished basement on a 1950's ranch fairly bright and cheery.

Pros
  • Exceptional lamp life approx. 8000 hours. *)
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Great color, very bright and does not burn!

These are fantastic color balanced bulbs and won't yellow or burn out when run 24/7 like other cheap CFLs I've used (cough, cough, Cowboy Studios). I only give 4 stars because of the high price. I did a full review of using these bulbs and a few other select parts from Revain.com to dramatically increase the light in a room at a great price. Try it out at http://youtu.be/8hrHVSJwKyg

Pros
  • flicker free
Cons
  • crumpled

Excellent light quality

175w Metal Halide fixtures were rewired, bypassing the ballast, installing magnet/centre light converters and using these lamps. If you look at this setup next to 175W lights you won't see any difference in light output or quality of light, but you get a savings of 130W per light. So I'm gradually upgrading the exterior lighting of the entire church complex and tracking lamp life and savings on energy bills.

Pros
  • This is a large lamp, see diagram above for dimensions.
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options.
