Easy company to work with

The microscope wasn't what I expected after reading a few reviews before buying but the company was very easy to deal with and the return process was straightforward . I would like to warn future customers to be careful when using it, the bulb and the surrounding area heat up very quickly. I would not discourage anyone from buying from the seller but this is not a professional area

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • No instructions

Great little microscope!

We bought this for my 8 year old son for his birthday thinking it would pop up every now and then when he thinks of seeing something up close. 4 months have passed and he does not leave the counter; He uses it almost every day to examine everything from bugs and dirt to all sorts of liquids, anything that fits under the scope, including a cut on his leg! It magnifies objects well and is a solid device.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Weak

Excellent microscope for the money

I feel like I got more than I paid for this microscope. I have used professional and even research microscopes in my career and this microscope is quite comparable at a fraction of the cost. He is strong and appears to be well built. I use it to look at gems and my 5 year old daughter is fascinated when she and her dad use it to look at a dead bug. The included top and bottom lighting is an added plus.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Educational and entertaining. Get one!

Good workmanship, not a toy. The optics are great for the price. Even with the 20x eyepiece, the image quality is a bit worse, but still good. Certainly not 10X as the description says (10X--80X). They have 20/40 or 40/80 depending on the eyepiece. I used it with a 10x eyepiece on one side and a 20x eyepiece on the other to quickly go from 20 to 80 without having to change eyepieces. I know it's only a monocular then, but still good enough for most viewing. Remember that the light heats up.

Pros
  • Constant test results
Cons
  • Easy repairability

. for wife and me and i had so much fun with this

I bought one of these for my wife and I liked it so much that I bought another one for my granddaughters as a Christmas present. It's built really well and viewing with quality lenses is comfortable. I've found that I mostly use overhead lights on the lowest setting. I have never changed eyepieces to 20X. Warning, the overhead light gets very hot and I burned my hand twice changing steps. Also allow this light to cool down before putting the plastic cap on it. I use a camera adapter to takeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • great for me
Cons
  • old

A 4x zoom lens is practically useless. The depth of field is tiny and the image has a milky white haze. The extra light didn't help. 20x eyepiece lenses require your eyes to almost touch the lens to see the image; my eyelashes were pressed against the eyepieces, trying to see everything. However, the 2x objective with 10x eyepieces is very sharp and rich in detail. Unfortunately if I can only use 1 of the 4 settings I can't justify keeping it. I go back and begin my search again.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Owned for two years. GREAT microscope!

I study microbiology and genetics. I've owned these for about 2 years now. This is a VERY good microscope. The resolution is excellent, it is universal, nothing is broken on it. The bulbs that came with it still work. It's a bit smaller than lab stereo microscopes, but that's a good thing because lab microscopes are pretty big, too big for my desk. But this one is just the right size. You can also adjust the height to fit larger objects into the scene. I can't say anything bad about it and I'mโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Wide field binocular head
Cons
  • Very expensive

The ground glass table top is wrapped in the microscope lid.

I received my product yesterday. I love AmScope microscopes and accessories. The only thing I didn't like was that the frosted glass table top was wrapped in the microscope lid. Without thinking, the fool grabbed the bag around the corner and threw it to open and cover the microscope. Needless to say, the stage glass flew off and shattered into hundreds of pieces. I contacted AMScopes and Dustin provided information on purchasing a replacement. I'm giving them a 4 because I owned the microscope

Pros
  • Stereo zoom settings 20X-40X-80X
Cons
  • Expensive

Surprisingly Good: Binoculars and scope

My lab bought this to help with zebrafish and artificial heart valve research. I assumed it would be very cheap considering it's only around $150, but I'm pleasantly surprised at how good it is. If this is going to be used as a home school item or a gift for a child, it's great. It has a few frustrating downsides in the lab, but it can still be extremely useful. Advantages: - Materials of excellent quality. It feels like it was made to last. - Lens can be switched from 2X to 4X, which is muchโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Sturdy all-metal stand on stand
Cons
  • Not automatic
