Description of 🔥 First Alert SCO500B: Wireless Interconnected Photoelectric Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Combo Alarm with Voice and Location Detection

Battery operated smoke and carbon monoxide alarm can be installed easily. Wireless interconnect uses radio frequency communication to connect the alarms, without any electrical wiring needed. Connects multiple alarms together for wireless safety network (not z-wave compatible). Voice alarm gives clear indication of what the danger is and where it is located.

The concept of the system is good as is the set up

I bought 5 of these. The concept of the system is good, as is the installation. But after just a month of operation, one of them gives false alarms and doesn't respond to pressing the mute or reset button. I'm guessing it's $50 junk now. Fingers crossed for the other 4. Update: well I lowered the price and bought a replacement for the broken one and guess what: it broke right out of the box. It is not linked to any of the others despite being an identical model. So I bought six of them and two…

Great idea, bad product

I want them to work. The idea is great: networked wireless fire and carbon monoxide detectors. I bought three. One for each level of my house. It wasn't easy to connect all three devices wirelessly. Sometimes I could connect two but not the third. When I connected the third, one of the first two disconnected. I followed the instructions word for word, but I still only succeeded after a few tries. One unit failed within three months. I called the company and they sent me a replacement. Again…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • The list will be long.

**EDIT** 06/01/2021 I spoke too soon. This is AGAIN a detector error issue as mentioned in the original review. Ridiculous, they last LESS THAN A YEAR! Unless you plan on dealing with the same issue over and over again, I think stay away for now. They sent me two new ones to replace and they've been working for about 4 or 5 months now. Let's see if that holds up. Original rating. That thing is really annoying. We have it in the same place as all of our detectors. In the corridors to the…

Poor Design: Combined Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms

This is a difficult, even annoying, product if you have lost the ability to hear sounds in the upper register or your hearing is normal and you keep it want it that way. The alarm signal is transmitted at such a high level that the elderly, who often lose the ability to hear high-pitched sounds, cannot hear it, so they are likely to fall asleep surrounded by smoke, fire and toxic substances. Gas. A high signal is also harmful to hearing. And when the device sends a false alarm, shutting down is

Loud, easy to install, difficult to program

Installation was relatively quick and easy - when I found out the previous owner had activated the tamper lock on my old one I had to google how to open it . Lesson: If you decide to install tamper evident pins, be sure to leave a note/instructions in your manuals to help for ten years or more when they are next replaced. Synchronizing with other alarms in the system was quick and easy, especially as I did this with both alarms in hand prior to installation. However, programming the location of

Works great and high quality Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm

I bought two of these after being unhappy with the First Alert ZCOMBO made for the ring I was returning. This model can be linked to other SCO500B models so that if there is an alarm in another part of the house, all alarms will sound and give a voice alert. These devices can't connect to my Ring Alarm system. I agree as I discuss in my review of the ZCOMBO model. I had no trouble setting up these two devices and choosing the voice location. As long as there are no false alarms, the units will…
