Nissan OEM 🚘 Accessories 999T6-8X000 Rear Bumper Guard Review

All in all a great purchase to avoid scratching your rear bumper. Followed the instructions leaving a small gap between the door frame and the trim. But it now traps dirt. I'm not sure why Nissan would want us to leave a gap (13mm I think), I would think it would be better to put it further back to protect more of the bumper. But there has to be a reason, right? Incidentally, this pad was factory installed on Japanese Leaf cars but removed for US production.

The bumper guard was easy to fit, made of good quality plastic and seems to do a good job of protecting my rear bumper from my kids heavy school bags. Adding a protector hid the existing scratches. In fact, I installed mine as far from the door as possible (to the edge of the bumper outline). The shape of the plastic makes it fit and it protects my rear bumper rather than next to the door.

We bought this as we rented our sheet. It arrived early and was as described. So far this has kept the bumper from scratching when my husband packs and unpacks his tools in the car as we got it specifically for his commuter truck for work. My parents also rented a sheet and got it as they use theirs as a commuter car for short trips with the dog and it slides in and out through a sunroof. I fitted a similar protector to a Prius C to protect its bumper and it has gotten A LOT of mileage on it. This rubberized pad gives your painted bumper real protection from falling objects and is a lot cheaper than repainting, so get one for your Nissan Leaf! Remember that there are four strips of adhesive that hold it in place and follow the contours of the tread and you'd better make sure you position it correctly before letting these strips touch the bumper.
