My 10 year old Vitamix had trouble maintaining the speed selected, so I was able to determine that it was due to potentiometer fatigue. The part is sealed so well that any attempt to open it for cleaning would likely destroy it. The exchange of parts was announced. Repair time: around 15 minutes if you can. , remove the rubber cover, turn the socket with the arrow backwards and remove it with the allen key, remove the Phillips screws, pull up the top to open, disconnect the old potentiometer and pull it out through the cable ties . Direct replacement for my 2013 Vitamix VM0103. I bought this switch to fix a variable speed controller that was randomly accelerating a motor without the switch. The #15955 derailleur I received turns a bit harder than the original, but this doesn't affect performance. After I replaced it, the acceleration is smooth and controlled by the speed controller. Once installed, the machine found it difficult to blend a range of products as it would not "pull" the products to the blending blades.
