Broken external accessory lock

I also thought it was a great carrier. It's solidly built. Unfortunately, the frame only lasted for one season. As others have said, the lock didn't work. Mine ripped and won't tighten. I absolutely cannot recommend this stand.

Pros
  • Carry up to 2 bikes
Cons
  • Something is wrong

Lifeboat is good for external accessories

Looks good and does the job, transports bikes. Since we're not serious bike enthusiasts, they basically lock us up in case we get stuck or broken. We travel a lot to very remote areas, mostly off-road. These bikes are like our life rafts in an emergency. The bike rack is easy to install, use and attach securely. It makes no noise when driving off-road and is remarkably robust. It's almost invisible on the highway and just as quiet. Make sure you order yours with the correct screw pattern. Aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Rubber pad to protect bike
Cons
  • Not as good as it says

Frustratingly good for spare tire holder

We installed this on the back of our Jeep and we bought it because of the solid construction. However, there are some issues with this product. 1.) It's right at forehead height, which caused a lot of people to hit their heads as we walked around the Jeep (especially when deflating the tires before going off-road). 2.) One time the bolt on the top was too tight and we had a big struggle to get it out. Next time we got bikes there we couldn't open it at all. I ended up cutting the screw. Whichโ€ฆ
