This replaces my 3 amp model that lasted ten years. I like the tri-color lamp system, a nice improvement. If I were to buy another one I would go back to the 3 amp. While it's better for a battery to have a slower charge rate, a 3 amp battery never hurt, and being faster is a good thing (but if you tend to leave a 1.5 amp battery plugged in overnight to let it really doesn't matter, I'm glad I can use my old model's cigarette lighter socket with this one, which is very convenient in my car that

I used this to charge a car battery that hasn't been used for about 6 months. Before charging, the battery showed 1.7 volts. After about 24 hours of charging, it appears to be fully charged. The indicator lights are a bit tricky to understand as the reversed terminals/bad battery light was initially on but eventually went off and only showed charging and finally the green charging light came on. This charger arrived on October 7th, 2019. I started using it for a few days and when I started my bike it was fully connected to it. died when I looked at the charger the lights were off. I've checked the outlet and it's working fine, I've also tried plugging it into a different outlet and still nothing. After 1 week the thing went into uncontrolled charging mode I turned it off when the voltage reached 16.9 and it kept rising. I returned it for a refund. and will not buy another Schumacher. BTW I have 6 Schumacher units all with variations on part number 1562 and they have all worked great for many years. All these vintage devices are checked from time to time and work perfectly. If you have 1319, take out your meter and check it. Turn it off and keep the light on for a while until the battery

Bought to charge a dead or discharged lawnmower battery. It's not a very complex device, or at least it shouldn't be, but the manual doesn't help much with the backlight.
