Very hard to get a good scan

Very hard to get a good scan. You have to move the thing smoothly at a constant speed. Even after a few tries, I couldn't scan pages that weren't perfectly flat, such as B. Notebook pages. Even with single, perfectly flat, letter-size paper, it was very difficult to hold the paper with the other hand while scanning to get a good scan. Any pause or erratic movement can distort the scan. After about an hour of use, I came to the conclusion that the device is essentially unusable.

  • Looking forward to

  • Definitely bad product

Scanner VuPoint Stick scanner PDS WM ST415

I bought this stick scanner for genealogical work, to scan family photos and articles. I like it. It's easy to use and does a pretty decent job. However, it may take some practice to use it properly. You must be able to move the scanner evenly and smoothly over the object to be copied. Any slight uneven movement will distort the image. I often do multiple scans when I feel like I'm not moving smoothly enough. Downloading to a computer is easy, and any duplicate or garbled scans can be easily…

The perfect product for my needs.

Wow absolutely amazing product, I'm not very tech/computer savvy but this scanner is a great tool. Love it, I wanted something very portable that can scan documents wherever I am so I can plug it into my laptop and email or whatever and it does exactly that. Installation doesn't require a program or anything . Think of it as another form of scanner and flash drive in one. You scan a document or whatever, connect it to your computer with a cable, find the removable storage, find the scanned…

Provided old OCR software.

I'm sure this is probably a good handheld scanner. I bought this product because I need the optical character recognition (OCR) function. The package contained a disc with ABBYY FineReader 10. I couldn't install it on my Windows 10 PC and when I looked it up on ABBYY website I found out that this application is not compatible with Windows 10 and no more supports. I called VuPoint and said I need to contact ABBYY as VuPoint doesn't support OCR software. I returned the scanner instead of trying…

Just OK Office Products

I really wanted to love this product. It's great if you need to do a few scans here and there, as long as you don't mind some bleaching and the occasional minor distortion. It's also good for you if you have time to devote to scanning because the wand is quite delicate. This is NOT the right product for you if you need to scan tons of books/workbooks/pages and would prefer to do it in a hurry. This is a return for me. Even if I wanted to go fast, the wand can't. Finally, make sure you buy a…

It's decent but fading

I'm not sure if it's my fault or what but my scans come out dark and with a yellow tint. There must be an SD card, otherwise it will not work at all and the scan will be of poor quality. I've watched so many videos on how to use it but haven't seen any improvement. I scanned a coloring book to make sure I was only scanning bad images and found that everything scanned had distortion regardless of the amount of color or light in the room. The image here is from a sunny room with lots of overhead…

VuPoint Solutions Magic Wand Portable Scanner

Incredible Thing! Some things you need to keep for posterity are too big for your printer/flatbed scanner and this wand fills the gap. You can scan and save anything from art, pictures and books. Buying a micro SD separately (which can be used with other things like cameras, computers etc) spreads the cost as micro SDs usually come with a standard size adapter. When I first tried to use Wand, I didn't get good results: I only saw a small fragment of my document. I called a really great support…

Meh Scanners best in Document Scanners

In my mind the idea of a handheld scanner is that it has some kind of AI or something so it stitches the image together from many reads or something. The reality of this device is that it is impossible to accurately reproduce the scanned object. No two resulting photos will be the same. The slow parts of your scan will be stretched and the faster parts of your scan will be compressed. I tried to scan some stuff, gave up, and it's in a box here somewhere.

Fast, easy and great scanning

I bought this for school because I'm afraid of losing important documents that I need later. The ability to scan without being connected to a computer is very convenient. Even scanning at the lowest resolution produces sharp images of black and white handouts, taking about 2 seconds to turn the pages. At the highest settings you do need to slow down the scrolling a bit, taking 5-7 seconds per scan, but I found that I only needed high settings for the smallest text (and color of course)…

Pros
  • Crossing my fingers
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Pros: - Small and portable

Pros: - Small and portable. Battery life from two cheap IKEA alkaline AAs seems decent. It is fully compliant and requires no driver installation, it simply writes files to a microSD card and then works like a standard card reader when connected to a computer. The Bad: - It's very poor at dealing with even slight creases or creases on what you're scanning. Even if it's a perfectly legible piece of paper unrolled from a standard business envelope, the resulting image will have some…
