Review on High-Resolution Touch Screen Acer T272HL Bmjjz HDMI Monitor – 27 Inch WQHD Display by Mark Hall

Touchscreen stopped working after 7 months

I bought a 27" T272HUL monitor with a Surface 3. The monitor connected to a Surface 3 with 64-bit Windows 8.1 with no problems. Also, I don't have a problem with "ghosts" as others describe it. I have an MS Surface 3 Dock and use the Audio and DisplayPort connectors to connect to the dock. The touchscreen function just stopped working. On Thursday it literally worked, on Friday it didn't. No maintenance, not even a reboot. I'm tech savvy. I know how to hook up this thing and how it works. Windows 8.1 indicated that the last service was installed 6 days ago. I turned off the monitor, restarted the surface and uninstalled the driver with restart. all unsuccessful. Communicates with Acer Support. They insisted that the monitor was a plug-and-play device and had no drivers. I had to go into Device Manager and take a screenshot of the device driver details before they believed me that the device driver actually existed. Very simple, I wanted to know if there is an updated version of this driver or even an official copy of the driver that I can download and (re)install. Basically the support person didn't answer my questions and didn't get any further until I uninstalled the driver they didn't know existed and rebooted. They knew that doing so would take me out of their "chat" queue. Of course it didn't work, I've tried before. I have come to the conclusion that they cannot and will not help. So now I have a basic $1000 monitor. Good screen display, but certainly not worth the money. I could buy an inexpensive Viewsonic for a few hundred dollars and have what I have now. And yes, the touchscreen on my desktop was valuable to me. My granddaughter enjoyed playing her games on her "dad's" computer. She is 4 years old and cannot type or use a mouse yet. but she knows how to use the touchscreen. i'm not a hater 3 stars for a good monitor and easy installation. The only feature that doesn't work is the touchscreen and that was my main reason for buying it. So look for another 25 inch touchscreen monitor or better. Definitely not from Acer. Suggestions are welcome.
