Backer works. I installed it in my driveway and see if it changes position depending on traffic. After a few months everything seems to be back where it started.

The rod worked great! I had a gap between my sidewalk and my house that was over 3/4 inch. This filled the crack well enough that I didn't lose the self-leveling sealant. The installation tool wasn't needed either, I just pressed it with my fingers. I would buy this again if I needed it.

This size is ideal for connecting between the garage floor and driveway. The seam was about 1 inch wide, and the 1 and 1/4 gauge provided enough tension to hold the Zikaflex support rod securely. I also used the leftover support rod to fill in a new garage door rubber bottom seal, which worked well too.

You need to get the filler rod so it can be installed in the gap and then fill it with sealant. Styrofoam is easy to cut and place in the gap. Although I have found that the larger 1/4" diameter works best. Otherwise it will be difficult to squeeze it enough to get in the gap. All in all a very useful product and the sealing in the expansion joints looks good .
