I like it. good for measuring and marking tools

Does what it's supposed to. Be careful when you put the point in. If you push it in too hard, the machine's fit is so snug that you'll need pliers and strong hands to pull it back out.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Not sure

Good scribing tool

Unless you're working with super hard materials, this thing is great for scraping oxide layers on steel on aluminum or working with construction fluid. from a decent suitcase just a cardboard cover with a piece of tape holding the valve closed.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Easily repairable

Measure seven times and write accurately

Markup is too important to leave to a mediocre tool. Especially if you know all the work involved in design, drafting, GD&T and the material handling aspects of manufacturing a part. We also recommend you go to You Tube and take a tour of the Starrett manufacturing facility. There is real craftsmanship in there.

Fell apart after several uses

Bought in early January 2021 probably wrote 20 short lines. I used it today and it literally fell apart. See photo. Starrett had an excellent reputation in her day. This is garbage made in China. I will contact Starret to see if they honor their warranty. I will update this post when I get a reply from them.

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • Speed

Small but typical of Starrett quality.

It's a little smaller than I thought and can easily get lost in your pocket. Typical Starrett quality - these tools will last longer than you. The ripper tip is stored in the handle. The first time I had to unscrew the mounting nut completely to get the scriber tip out of the handle (I think it got a bit clogged during reassembly). Since then, however, I've had no trouble getting the scriber tip in and out of the handle.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Periodicity

Outstanding transcriber! on Scribers

First of all, for those who say that the kit does not come with a tip, you have to unscrew the end, pull out the tip and twist. The tip is stored inside the scriber inside out so you can keep it in your pocket without accidentally poking out part of your foot and it was shipped that way for safety reasons. That he doesn't come with directions is a scribe. It has a hard, sharp point for marking measurements or points or anything else on hard surfaces like metal and wood. That's exactly what I…

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities

Nice to hold and use.

This tool is just great! Holding it in my hand alongside all my other scribes, it's easy to see superiority. In use it is also distinguished by the fact that it feels light in the hand, unlike several much longer pens that I own. The knurling is deep and provides an easy, non-slip grip. The hexagonal handle at the end prevents the marker from rolling away. The detachable scraper tip is made of hardened steel and is easy to sharpen. The tip is very hard, which ensures a long service life; The…
