Good protector. Consider not using Tapcon screws for attachment to concrete.

Nice tread which will hopefully give some traction in the winter months as the bare concrete step was quite slippery due to the snow. Recommend fasteners other than faucets in concrete as 3 out of 6 of them broke their heads off immediately after tightening, although I tried to be careful. Maybe it's my fault but I think I'd recommend the flared nail clasp instead.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Fits

A must for wooden steps

Too bad I didn't find them years ago. After using glue steps and having to replace them annually I decided to give them a try and what a difference. They can cope with the snow and ice that the harsh northern winters bring. They are easy to install with just a cordless drill. They are easy to keep clean, whether with a shovel or broom. My feeling of support seems very secure, as opposed to sticky ones that can come loose at any moment. Good product!

  • Enjoyable

Get it and save your butt!

We had a very bad slippery porch, even a few people fell! I bought these non-slip protectors and they arrived quickly! Very well made product! Installation didn't take long and looks great. I measured carefully and used my hacksaw to cut some of the pieces to exact size. I could only "squeak" but I'd be happier with SQUARE drive screws, the Phillips can burr and slip. I used a set of nails to make the starting holes to make it easier to drive the screws. I got others to get it too.

Pros
  • Practical
Cons
  • No performance

Expensive but valuable

ROFLMAO! I returned the first set of Handi-Treads NSTR-191 Tracks EMW5894647 3.75x30 Black because it didn't have a package of mounting screws. Got a new set quickly which was easy to fit. Steel bolts on local equipment. The paint washed off the screw heads within a few weeks of walking on them. It's not that shiny heads look bad. Only their painted screw heads do not withstand the abrasion. The tracks look good and should hold up to winter snow removal.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities

Expensive but effective for slippery deck scenarios

This is a niche product so be aware. We have a Trex deck that gets slippery and a few of us have been dangerously thrown off the deck onto our backs or butts. We placed them on the steps and on the part of the deck that leads to the steps. This product is not a panacea for high slip risk, especially in icy conditions, but it does reduce slip risk most of the year. slips enough to justify the cost. I would rate it higher but it's quite expensive for something so simple. The manufacturer should…

Excellent traction and beautiful appearance.

We installed them on several pressure treated porch steps in front of our house where there is very little sunlight to dry them out. The steps can get moldy and very slippery when wet. These caterpillars went by quickly and easily and changed everything. The foundation is now safe and secure even if flooded with water. The brown looks great with our reddish deck color. They also look good overall - a very high quality item. We installed ten - two on each of the five steps in front - they are…

Mostly satisfied

We painted the wooden steps on the patio leading to the back door and nothing saved them from icing up. They work. most of time. Pros: • Easy to install, comes with all screws • Handles more ice than any other product we've found • Comes in many colors to match our wood. Disadvantages: • At first the paint/finish seems to be peeling off a bit. It's not much, and we've got an outdoor rug to capture it, but there's something to watch out for. • These tracks work. most of time. We don't have…

Expensive but performs better than other products

Has wooden steps that freeze easily in winter, like an overpass in front of a road. Tried adhesive strips that came off, thought the plastic pieces would break, also tried rubber steps that were supposed to "grab" the wooden steps but misaligned. When a friend slipped on the steps, it was time to take action and order these brown wooden steps. So aluminum doesn't rust and is held securely in place with lots of screws (husband used a drill and everything went smoothly). Metal "captures" have…

An extremely well designed, well made product, made in the USA.

Very well made, much better than I expected. I recently slipped on a very old wooden ramp behind my house. Instead of always tiptoeing, I tried sticky tape to make the ramp more secure, but they didn't work for me. Didn't stick to the old wood, peeled from the frost, whatever. After reading the reviews, I decided to abandon the "stubborn" color. So originally ordered five of these to try them out. This is an essential product, very well thought out and carefully designed. I installed five tapes
