Weak, thin, torn as I unfolded it.

I used it as a layer on a tarpaulin as a trace of a tent, and also under a sleeping bag on a folding bed. In terms of keeping warm, I think it worked. I was still cold at night, but not as cold as before. However, when I unpacked them, some of the pieces stuck together and when I pulled them apart, they tore. Entire folded sections were taped and torn, leaving large rectangular holes. Since it was a layered pack, I was able to at least use one more to put on top of the hole. Where I planned to…

WHY DO YOU CARE? about outdoor recreation

They care because you think they might one day save your life. Let's face it, probably only about 2 percent of people in Western culture today will face a survival or death situation in a forest or wilderness. However, one would have to be a fool not to want to have several of these in the car, in your travel bag or even in your purse if you are a woman. They are very light and take up no more space than a tin of breath mints. Advantages: Much more than normal rescue blankets. Plus + light…

Silver Emergency Blankets

It's a pretty stupid story as to why I even bought them but I was on a plane and they couldn't turn the air off and it was FROZY. As usual, I would like to pack my travel blanket in my hand luggage, but this time I had so many things that I didn't have enough space. those are numbers! Anyway I just wanted something I could use in the future if this ever happens again and I wanted something very small and light as my carry on is usually full. When I saw how good these 10 packs were, I thought it

Pros
  • Pretty Packaging
Cons
  • There are some nuances

Alternative use of the thermal blanket

Actually I didn't use the thermal blanket for its intended purpose. I use them to keep the house warm and tape them to my glass windows. I started using emergency blankets last year when I ordered a pack of five from another service and moved in in mid-January in an 8-degree night. A few layers of thermal blankets behind my patio door, also covered by a curtain, seemed to help retain some warmth. I was planning on using a few layers of thermal blankets in front of every window in my house…

Pros
  • Great fit
Cons
  • No instructions

Does it do its job and more.

These mylar blankets are one of the largest I've used. At 5-9 I felt the sizes were generous and should accommodate a 6ft person without too much trouble. The best news is that price, if you don't feel one of them is doing the job, just add another. The packaging is excellent. To be honest I couldn't tell how thick the comforter was, but it "appears" to be thicker than the product it replaced. They also don't wrinkle nearly as much, which comes in handy when you're trying to rest or fall…

Pros
  • High test scores for hold and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
