Zcash is popular for a reason.
$ZEC is a decentralized open source, privacy project. It offers both private/shielded addresses(z-adresses) and transparent addresses (t-adresses). $Zec gives its users and holders the ability to make easy anonymous transactions thanks to its zero-knowledge proof called zk-SNARKs. This allows the network to maintain secure balances without revealing the parties or amounts involved.
If you are not using $ZEC for anonymous transactions, the coin runs on a Proof-of-work algorithm and is mineable for passive income. Like bitcoin Zcash undergoes halving to control inflation on the network. Next halving due for November of this year (2020). Personally i'd be looking forward to it, this event usually has a positive effect on the value of the coin and is a chance not to be missed.
It takes $ZEC an average of 3 minutes to confirm and send a transaction, slow but could be overlooked because it does it without reducing your anonymity.
