Review on Sunhokey Extruder Aluminum Compatible Creality by Sammie Rodriguez

Works well but has durability issues

I have it installed an Ender 3. It works fine except for two issues. Threaded holes have sharp edges. This can damage the thread. It cut into the filament entering the extruder, leaving plastic dust on the motor. This issue was addressed by printing out a thread straightener. But as the filament was being fed during printing, it caught on the edge of the lever and opened it slightly, then caused a "click" as the filament was fed back into the hot end. a countersink/chamfer tool would be better) to round the edges of the holes. It seems to have worked.2. After that I noticed a loud squeaking/ticking in the extruder. It turned out that the driven gear (the one attached to the release lever) at the base of the extruder frame was worn and making noise. I just put some grease on the underside of the gear and the noise was gone. I would suggest (and will do) polish the bottom of the gear and add a chamfer to the gear so it doesn't cut into the extruder frame. Except for the two problems mentioned above, everything works perfectly. Don't forget to count your electronic steps!

Pros
  • ✔️Update: Higher pressure pushes filament into printer nozzle, works with Creality CR-10/ CR-10S/ CR-10S Pro/ Ender 3/ Tornado 3D printers etc.
Cons
  • Wrinkled package
