Review on πŸͺ‘ Enhance Comfort and Durability with the SUNLITE Steel Pillar Seatpost by Mark Lowery

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Worked amazing once I hardened it.

I bought a 7/8 x 16 drop leg extension for an old 1982 Hutch Expert BMX bike which I bought at a price I couldn't refuse. Due to the fact that I'm 5ft 10" and 200lbs, I needed an extended seatpost to ride this bike with a 20" frame. I had lengthened the seatpost 13 inches and I could see that the seatpost had a slight kink and knew I would probably end up bending it, so I took some strong threaded rod I had laying around and cut it to the size of the Seatpost, 16 inch, apply some of that gorilla glue that expands into the seatpost and onto the stem and insert the stem into the seatpost and once the glue expands and hardens the threaded rod will go into the hollow Seatpost fixed, making it much stronger without adding too much weight to it. Just wanted to give anyone reading this same idea if they think their seatpost might be bent. You just have to make sure that the threaded rod used fits the seat post. My stem was 0.5cm and the seatpost was 7/8 so the stem was a bit loose in the seatpost until I added Gorilla Expanding Glue and once it sets you have a nice heavy duty chrome seatpost. :-)

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Hard to tell
