An important addition to my 2019 F-150 Lariat

A few years ago I installed a K&N cold air intake on my car (Mazda 3 GT-S) after driving this car for several years. Immediately I noticed an increase in "spikyness" in the car, an increase in gas mileage and a "growl" of the engine, especially when accelerating. When I bought a new Ford F-150 Lariat, I checked if I could expect similar results by adding K&N CAI. I had only had the truck about 2 weeks when I added it so the OEM air filter looked brand new. when I took it out (does anyone need it?) but as soon as I installed it, that growl was there, and I actually - assuming the in-dash information screen is correct - saw an increase in fuel consumption of about 15% after installing one drove for a while. Installation is pretty easy and I'm certainly not an auto mechanic. Just follow the instructions. Moving the intake air temp sensor there from the original setting is a bit of a chore (be careful!), but once it's done and everything is moved and tightened in place, you're done. All in all, the installation took about 1/2 hour. There was a discount at the time of purchase which made this deal even more enjoyable. Update August 22, 2019: My truck started showing the check engine light ("CEL") so I used an OBD2 reader to find out why. The code generated was P04DB, which according to an online search is probably related to adding a recording. I called K&N customer service, explained "Joel" what was going on, gave him the P04DB code and he immediately knew what to do. He sent (express shipping) a small metal tube which you can see in the middle of the second picture I've added to this review. It sticks out about 5/8 inch in the picture because it's too long. I spoke to Joel again and he advised me to cut the pipe to the correct length, which I did with a hacksaw and then used fine sandpaper to smooth the edge. Once that was done and the metal tube was in place I cleared the code and the CEL was gone and didn't come back. It's a bit disappointing that this had to be done, but I have to thank K&N support for knowing straight away what the resolution would be and for expediting shipping of the part needed so I could install it before committing to one long journey ensued and overall experience for me. Hope this helps someone else with a similar problem. 2019 Ford F150 Lariat 3.5L V6 with EcoBoost
