SRAM chains are inexpensive

I ride 10,000-15,000 miles a year so I have to change the chain about 3 times a year. I used to pay my local bike shop for this because I usually keep half the main link under the fridge. Now that I have a Parks master tool, I started buying SRAM chains and replacing them myself. This one rode my Brompton folding bike and went like clockwork in about 10 minutes. I prefer a main link over a pin. If you have the right tool, it's much easier and more reliable. I only needed 102 links so I shortened the chain with a chain tool and removing the pins went smoothly. The chain is covered with light oil, so you should not put it on your white carpet. The main connection was installed in a few seconds and fitted securely. SRAM and KMC chains typically last around 4,000 miles. I would recommend any brand but not the cheap ones. It's worth spending a little more money on chains and tires.
