Not for smaller outboards
For larger Mercury engines, not for older smaller engines. So, I have a 1971 Mercury 40 that is described as going with it as Mercury is said to have switched to a larger fuel grade. disable at this time. Well, the description is wrong. I also checked with Mercury after the fact and they still used the smaller decoupler in many engines under 10hp up until the 70's. It's in the parts basket in case I need it for a big engine.
