Review on Road Kill RKFR6 Speaker Enhancer by Sirious Cavalli

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Speakers come alive!

I bought these to help with a set of adapter rings that were listed as fitting a Subaru Outback 08 which they seem to do. They screw in well, there is a screw pattern but with a gap towards the front edge of the door. At first I used Gorilla Tape and some RTV but that wasn't enough. Using Road Kill foam rings made a huge difference. I removed the speaker from the ring and stuffed a small foam ring around the inner perimeter of the adapter and drew a larger one around the outer perimeter which was glued to the door itself. WORLD OF differences! At the back I used them more "traditionally" as a basket for the modified series rings and stretched them again around the outer circumference of the door loudspeaker ring. My new JVC 6.5" speakers don't sound as good as my old ones. 6x9 3 directions but they are much better with road kill rings than without them. They are much more focused and sound more "in the car" than before I installed them. Installed speakers, rode for a day, then turned around and ordered these rings. I should have bought them when I bought the speakers. Don't get me wrong, I still need the subwoofer under the seat, but with that I can wait until it cools down to install the 1.5 month update: the speakers are well broken in (yes, that's important) and with foam. The rings are there, they sound damn good in the car without the OEM soundproofing material in/on the doors. Obviously any type of sound deadening material would be much better, but it helps. The subwoofer was also a good choice.
