Bought to replace the seal on my Big Green Egg XL. I waited too long to do this and there was smoke seeping around the lid and base. As a result both were very dirty and required a good cleaning, scraping and some sanding to remove any residue. Next time I won't wait so long. The instructions recommend using acetone or mineral spirits to remove the old glue and gasket. A clean surface is a prerequisite for perfect bonding! Once the surface is prepared, the seal is easy to install. I waited the recommended 24 hours after installation for the adhesive to set before using the grid. There are videos on YouTube on how to do this. So if you doubt something, it's best to check these out before trying. .
