They are great for stepping down the voltage from 5V to 3V
These are great for stepping down the voltage from 5V to 3.3V for devices like the ESP8266. I only have one complaint, but that's no reason to deduct the star: if you're soldering any of these devices onto a breadboard, make sure you have enough space for the rest of the components. I am using a 2cm x 8cm board and there is almost no room for 1 row of holes on each side. However, if you move it around the board, you can free up a lot of space. They work best on a breadboard. There are smaller versions of this controller, but it definitely gets the job done.
