Review on πŸ”§ Amazon Basics 20-Piece 1/2-Inch Drive Impact Hex Set with Carrying Case by Harel Leary

Nice long versatile hex bit set

I have a couple of hex wrench sets, one set with shorter bits on the handle, another similar to this one (bits) but much shorter. Length. Most of the time I use allen wrench sets, but when it comes to auto work I almost always use bits. They generally work great, but I've encountered a few situations where I need long hex bits and only long hex bits work. This happened recently when I wanted to remove my son's intake manifold from his car. The brackets were hex and recessed about 4 inches into the manifold. So I couldn't do that and had to take it to the store. If I had this set it wouldn't be a problem. Kinds of tools that you might not use often, but when you need them, nothing else will work. The bits came in a good quality plastic case exactly as shown in the photos. In many cases these cases are junk but this one wasn't as it closes securely and really holds the bits in place. The bits themselves seem to be of decent quality and while I haven't had a chance to use them in high torque applications I think they will hold up well. What I like most about this set is that it doesn't skip sizes. You get the most common metric and SAE sizes, all 5 inches long, at a reasonable price. If there was one thing I would have liked it would be having a ball end on the hex so you can grip at an angle, but it interferes with the hex's ability to grip the fastener so there is a trade-off. Overall I'm very happy with this set and while I can't use it every day, it will certainly come in handy in certain situations.
