Funny how easy it is to tear a cockatoo

My umbrella cockatoo took some time to get used to. However, this applies to EVERYTHING new that he learns. I hung it from the ceiling next to its play stand so it had a place to climb up and swing around. Now he prefers it as his main stool to his stand and loves it when I rock him on it. Problems: The bell is too easily destroyed by a larger bird. I don't know why, but the first thing my U2 hunts for in a new toy is a bell. First he plucks the cracker, then he plucks the bell from the toy. Sometimes he tears off the top of the bell. The next thing he likes to do is play with the hook on top. He will spend a lot of time unscrewing and screwing them back on. I have to tighten them so he can't unscrew them. The next thing he did with this toy was somehow get under the plastic cap at the top and push the metal ring holding the rope onto the metal wire. This caused him to snap the top 20% of the rope. The plastic cover remains intact. He is still an excellent rope player and enjoys chewing on frayed rope. I hung a large bell covered in hard plastic over it. That seems to keep him from destroying the top of the rope toy. He sometimes plays the bell, but it still seems to frighten him more than he wants to play with it.
