Update: Bought in 2015 - after a few years of ownership it lost some of its excitement. There should be a tension adjuster on the side, but we can't pull it back with screwdrivers etc. The blades are still sharp and they make great little scissors, but they can no longer cut hair effectively. Sometimes the hair is bent or pulled out instead of being cut. I would still consider it worth the price given the cost was so low when I bought it but wish it had lasted 5 years instead of 2. I replaced it with another popular brand sold on Amazon with a lighter grip tension. The scissors come in handy. in the hand and cuts very well. I'm not a professional, I cut family hair at home. I would still say with confidence that it is very good value for money. The scissors work very smoothly. They cut their hair very well. my permission I have fabric scissors and hair scissors that I keep in cases to ensure they aren't accidentally used to cut thick paper or anything that might dull them.
