First off I used a full size ball and a half of yarn to make the baby blanket. I know many of you ask this question, but it's not often answered here. I made a baby blanket out of this yarn for my friends baby shower and it was a huge hit, everyone wanted to touch, hold and snuggle with it. The yarn is beautiful. It's very soft. Thick and seems to hold up well and is easy to wash (super fine) or spot clean which is good for babies and children. back together, creating a slight bump - it didn't look like it would tear or come loose, but it just didn't always look that pretty. I also highly recommend the simple pattern. Very intricate lace patterns don't really show up in the yarn, but a pearl stitch or a mix of a knit stitch and a few rows of yarn-based lace patterns looks good and makes it even more fun for kids to snuggle up.
