I ordered and installed this starter in March because I heard the original starter stall after cranking and make a grinding noise a few seconds after cranking. This replacement was almost perfect, it took a bit of effort to put the dowel in place, but with time and patience I got it done. This isn't a job you'll get done in a few hours. You'll have to disassemble the entire air side/intake manifold if you don't have a lifter, but I was able to do this when I first worked on the E46. After 9 months it's still working like new, I hope it lasts but for the price it's great quality.
