Installed this unit on my 06 330ci ZHP. It's a little bigger than the one I took off, but turns the motor much faster. Fit well and works perfectly! I removed the intake manifold for this job which took about an hour. While removing it I took advantage and replaced the plastic lines that are under the intake manifold, removed the CCV valve and replaced it with a trap, replaced the crankshaft position sensor and oil pressure sensor.

Crappy unit. Do not buy. I installed it in my 02 530i and immediately closed the contact on the capacitor. I have many launchers installed on these machines, so this is not user error. I even installed it over the weekend with his help (he's also a certified mechanic) at my buddy's certified BMW workshop. I ended up going back and buying a rebuilt Bosch starter. The only benefit of this purchase was no questions asked on return. Customer service was great.

Worked beautifully on my 2005 BMW 330ci. This job was HELL! The starter is mounted on top of the gearbox behind the engine and under the rear bulkhead. It was so deep and hidden that I couldn't see or reach it - I had to disassemble half the car to get to 2 screws and turn them. with a 3/8 ratchet for several hours. I ordered and installed this starter in March because I heard the original starter stall after cranking and make a grinding noise a few seconds after cranking. Purchased for my 2001 BMW 330Ci. Looks almost the same as its predecessor. Considering that OEM costs 4x and even the next cheapest new non-OEM costs more than double, this is a hell of a deal.
