This is a really strong piece of steel that will not bend under pressure. Most Forstner bits are located at the bottom of the hole and are held in place with both set screws. Many 3/8 step drill bits only go deep enough for the first set screw, but when the bit has a single flat surface, a touch of blue threadlocker works well for me. The minimum practical diameter of any type of bit is 7/8" if the depth goes beyond the first set screw. The head of the extension itself is 3/4" in diameter and the 3/4" bit can only work if the screws are shortened. Two of these mesh tightly to form a working 16" extension. A very valuable addition to a toolbox.
